similar QR code-based authentication, but is different because it isn’t
limited to just one service. In fact, any website or service can
integrate Rublon and make use of its authentication. Users just have to
install the Rublon app on their Windows Phone, and scan the QR code
generated by the service every time they want to sign in from an
unfamiliar device.
The Rublon app itself doesn’t have too many features or bells and whistles. To create an account, simply enter your email address, and let the service take charge from there. You will receive an email at the address you entered in Rublon, and will be required to verify your registration using the link provided in this email. Once a user has been registered, Rublon goes into scanning mode, waiting for services to generate QR codes for it.
For now, not a lot of websites support Rublon, and chances are you have never heard of the ones that do (unless there are many frostbox, domeny.tv, datebytype or firmino.pl users hiding somewhere out there). That said, according to the developers, it is pretty easy to integrate the service’s authentication module with any login form, so you might be seeing more of Rublon in the near future. A complete list of supported services is sent to users who sign up for a new Rublon account.
