When you YouTube first came out, it was
supposed to be a website where users shared videos with each other, but
soon it became much more than that. Nowadays, you can find official
music videos, live performances, scenes from your favorite movies,
lectures on different topics, tutorial videos and much more. YouTube
is my basic source of finding out and listening to new music. The only
limitation faced by users when using YouTube for listening to music is
that one has to be connected to the internet. That’s when applications
that enables you to download
videos from YouTube come in. Around a month ago, we covered Free Video
Downloader, a multi-platform application that allows users to download videos from YouTube and convert them to different formats, but you have to do that one by one. If you want to download a video or just extract its audio, try Free Fox.
It is a YouTube to MP3 converter that lets you download videos and
convert them to MP3’s, including HD and HQ videos. Other than that, you
can also stream videos, watch TV, play free games and listen to radio
directly from the application. Read on to find out more about Free Fox.
As the free version of Free Fox is ad supported, make sure that you uncheck the Babylon toolbar installation during the setup.
The interface has Music (to view and download music), Video (to view and download videos), My Files (manager for downloaded files), Watch TV (to watch television videos), Radio (to listen to radio stations), Games (for playing free online games) and Chat tabs at the top. When you run the application, the Music tab is selected by default, which allows you to search and extract MP3 from videos.
When you search for a music file, Free Fox searches for it in YouTube’s database and lists all the relevant results. After choose the one you want from the list, you are able to stream the video, download its audio or the complete video depending on your choice (buttons are available below the video).
When you click the download button, you are asked to choose various conversion parameters about the file. For instance, if you click on Download Video, you can specify the Video Format, Video Size, Video Quality, File Name and Save Location before downloading the file.
The Options window (under Tools menu), allows you to change the Saving, Downloads, System Tray, Player , iTunes, View, Advanced etc settings, such as the default download folder for audio and video files and notification settings.
The application also has a paid version which gives you access to a larger database of files and better support. Free Fox works on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
